What Happens Then?
As soon as possible you will be invited to an induction, which is a fun tennis session with head coach, Nigel Mann, to assess your ability and give you a player rating. The £12 fee for this (free for juniors aged 8 and under) is payable on the day of the induction and is non-refundable but will be deducted from the joining fee, if you join within 14 days. This is followed by a short talk with one of our committee members who will tell you all about the club and how to get the best out of your club membership.
How Do I Get Started?
Our club will help you get onto the right path and activities at the club , whether its as a beginner, a social player or a competitive team player.
Can Players Of All Ages And Standards Join?
The club welcomes players of all ages and standards, from beginners to national league players and beyond. There is no minimum age but 5 year olds and over would find others of their own age and ability to play with. For practical reasons, parents of children under the age of 7 would be expected to join the club and attend sessions with them.
What About Coaching?
A comprehensive programme of individual and group coaching is available for both adults and juniors from head coach, Nigel Mann and his experienced team. A Mini Tennis Zone is available for our youngest members (see photo below).
Coaching is also available to non-members. Adults who are absolute beginners are expected to pursue a course of coaching which will bring them up to a reasonable standard so that they can then join in confidently with club tennis.
New Member Development Options
A wide range of new members join MLTC, and MLTC is developing activities and events to help all members play their best.
Competitive Team Players
MLTC fields lots of teams, enters many league matches and tournaments and new members coming from other club teams will find themselves right at home playing at MLTC.
Beginners and Rusty Racquet Players
We have coaching programmes and activities to help members understand the basics of the rules and scoring for playing tennis, to be able to serve reasonably consistently into the service box, and be able to sustain a rally for a reasonable number of shots.
Club Social Players
Most members play social tennis and the club has regular club sessions throughout the week during the day, and in the evenings, and there are many member groups at the club that schedule social games together.
The Juniors programme at MLTC led by Nigel Mann, is one of the largest and most successful junior tennis development programmes anywhere in the UK. The LTA has recognised the excellence of junior coaching at MLTC, and the excellent winning results from MLTC Juniors, by awarding MLTC with the highest possible Performance Club rating- the only tennis club in Berkshire with this top rating for Coaching Juniors.
Why Maidenhead LTC?
We are large enough to cater for all needs, small enough to be friendly. We field a large number of teams at Club, County and Regional levels including 2-3 in the Aegon national league. Our Juniors compete at all levels from Mini Red ‘Road To Wimbledon’ to Tennis Europe and the prestigious Miami Orange Bowl thanks to a great coaching programme under head coach, Nigel Mann. Indoor facilities are available, social tennis is well catered for and there is a full calendar of social events. Nevertheless, our subscriptions represent unbeatable value.

The charge for this is £5/hr. Non-members may also receive coaching on any of the club’s courts or may play on any court as the guest of a member up to a maximum of 3 occasions per year subject to prior payment of £6/hr.back to top
Maidenhead is one of very few clubs that will admit absolute beginners in both junior and senior category. This is done on the understanding that these members are joining to learn the game and to practise, helped by coaching.
